About Western College Players Theatre Company
Our Mission
Western College Players Theatre Company are Plymouth's longest established Amateur Dramatics Company.
Our on going mission is to provide Plymouth with a non pretentious forum that inspires all ages to actively participate in theatrical productions with wide ranging appeal.
Every year, we gather to meticulously produce a quality project worthy of the company's history and long standing place within the local theatrical scene.
Our philosophy is 'learning through doing'. We provide opportunities for all members of the community to take part both front and back stage in a friendly, unintimidating setting.
For young people we offer valuable experience which can help prepare for a successful career in the industry, often offering opportunities to perform/participate creatively in projects unavailable elsewhere.
Uniquely, we do not charge a membership- and are a not for profit organisation, a successful project serves only to fund our next theatrical venture!

Our most recent production in The Drum Theatre Royal, in January 2026, was another Plymouth Premiere- a brilliant version of the all time classic 'It's a wonderful life'

Our Recent Production
Recently we produced a brand new adaptation of the beloved TV comedy classic 'The Vicar of Dibley' in The Drum Theatre Royal Plymouth 29th January- 1st February 2025. This special sold out production was a double celebration- for both our 95th anniversary and thirty years of the classic sitcom. Our thanks to all involved- and all those that came along to support the production.
Past Productions
Over our 95 years we have presented a wide variety of productions- most recent of which are our hilarious hit original 'Another Murder Mystery', and dazzling 'Glorious: The true story of Florence Foster Jenkins- the worst singer in the world'. Other recent productions have been as diverse as 'Lady Windermere's Fan', 'Oliver Twist', 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame', 'Phantom of the Opera', 'The Railway Children', 'The Diary of Anne Frank', 'Wuthering Heights', 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, 'Hi de Hi' and 'The Graduate'.
